SO WHAT GOES INTO YOUR RN JOB OFFER AND ITS PROCESS?
OK, let's talk about RN job offer and placement. Having gotten your license after NCLEX, your agency embarks on a serious RN job search for you. Most agencies already have their client hospitals. These hospitals, just like many others, have moderate to severe RN shortages. And so job search may not be a difficult task. The problem however is finding a job that suits your credentials and area of experience, and also, getting this job in your region or city of choice. This is the first step. Your agency asks you to complete and submit a resume, and checklist on your area of RN specialty. These are the basic ingredients for an RN job search. Your agency’s Placement experts then use the above information to prepare a professional RN resume. The professional resume together with an application are then used to launch a job search. If you are an international RN with no travel experience or not used to the fast-paced western nursing style, here is how you can greatly contribute to the job search process. You can request for a hospital that is ready to offer up to 12 weeks of orientation. An alternative is to ask for placement in a slow-paced setting like the home care or SNF, at least for the start. This is the best way to quickly learn and adjust to your new nursing environment. Based on feed backs from your predecessors, most RN recruiting companies have a fair idea of those facilities which had been mean or welcoming to RNs from the developing world. On commencement of the job search, let your agency know your weaknesses. Give a detailed checklist of those equipment you are used to and those advanced nursing procedures you have no or less idea about. And note that Medical-surgical and other units of most hospitals in developing countries can neither be classified under SNF/home health nor acute care setting, but are somewhere between the two settings. Having found an RN job that meets your resume, your agency arranges a job placement interview. Depending on your location, this could either be face-to-face or telephone interview. The interview is conducted by a representative from the hiring hospital. The problem of very strong ascents is one major setback to RN job offer interview. Many international RNs fail their placement interviews because of almost incomprehensible ascents. Your agency can help you prepare for this interview. Once you impress the client hospital during the interview, you get an RN job offer. But if unsuccessful, your employer will have to look for another RN position with other client hospitals. And a new interview is arranged for you. Finding you a new RN job offer is no big problem for a big and great RN agency. Because they are big and have offices all over USA, they have large client hospital base. And this also makes it easier to locate you in your city or state of choice. One basic requirement for RN job placement in USA is BLS/ACLS/PALS (depending on your specialty) certification. If you don’t have a USA-approved provider of these resuscitation courses in your country, your agency will arrange for you to do them on your arrival. No RN can practice without a proof of the above certificate(s).
